Signatech Alpine Matmut confirmed as Le Mans LMP2 winners as G-Drive lose appeal

The FIA International Court of Appeal has upheld the decision to disqualify the #26 G-Drive Racing Oreca and the #28 TDS Racing Oreca, from the 24 Hrs of Le Mans on the grounds of their running the cars with modified fuelling rigs.

The French team were able to refuel their cars 25 % faster than other LMP2 entries due to an additional component in the fuel system assembly.  TDS Racing had argued that the regulations does not specifically rule out the use of additional parts, but this defence was rejected when the court ruled that the part protruded into the fuel flow restrictor, stating: “it is not allowable to have a compliant part which is rendered redundant by another part.”

The decision confirms the #36 Signatech Alpine Matmut of  Andre Negrao, Nicholas Lapierre and  Pierre Thiriet as class winners, with the #39 Graff-SO24 in second place and #32 United Autosports in third place.
