IDEC Sport Takes maiden win at the European Le Mans Series Silverstone.

IDEC Sport take a maiden win at the European Le Mans Series 4hrs of Silverstone. 

Favourites G-Drive were denied a third consecutive win, after a last minute dash for fuel by Jean-Eric Vergne handed the advantage to Memo Rojas in the #28 IDEC Sport Oreco.

The dramatic race saw multiple incidents occur including a huge crash for the #3 LMP3 car of United Autosports Mike Gausch, bringing the safety car out. There was also misfortune for United Autosports #22’s Phil Hanson when a loss of power caused him to leave the track and a full course yellow was instigated. 

In the final hour of the race the #39 Graff of Jonathan Hirschi held the lead until serving a drive through penalty after it was deemed the #39 was driven dangerously while the safety car was out due to an incident between the #37 Cool Racing and M Racing #19.

Following further penalties for #13 Inter Europol Competition the top three crossing the finish line were  #28 Idec Sport, #26 G-Drive Racing and #39 Graff. LMP3 saw the #11 Eurointernational on the top spot with #13 Inter Europol Competition in second place with the #2 United Autosports on the third step of the podium.

LMGTE win was taken by #88 Proton Competition’s Porsche 911 helmed by Thomas Preining, Gianluca Giraudi and Ricardo Sanchez. Second place went to the #83 Kessel Racing Ferrari 488 with the sister #60 car in third place.

The penultimate round of the season takes place at Spa on September 21st-22nd
