British GT Oulton Park qualifying Flick Haigh makes pole & history

As the British GT season kicked off at Oulton Park it was newcomer to the series Flick Haigh who took pole position for Mondays first race in the Optimum Motorsport Aston Martin. Haigh who co drives with Jonny Adam, qualified in GT3 AM and is the first woman to take outright pole position and set a best lap of 1:34.769 just ahead of Rick Parfitt Jnr in the Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental.

But in GT3 Pro it was Phil Keen in the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini #33, who took pole for Mondays second race after also topping Free Practice Two.

GT4 Am saw Callum Pointon take pole position which Equipe Verschuur’s Finlay Hutchison had to relinquish when he took to the McLaren 570S first instead of co driver Daniel McKay. The Championship regulations state that drivers must be nominated for each qualifying period, the driver mix up handed HHC’s Pointon top of the GT4 grid when he finished just fractions of a second behind Hutchison. Hutchison now starting at the back of the grid in race one. Due to the exclusion, Daniel McKay who also finished on pole in GT4 Pro handed that place to Scott Malvern in the Team Parker Racing Mercedes AMG.

Racing continues at Oulton Park on Easter Monday.
