The British Women Racing Drivers Club also joined the Walter Hayes Trophy weekend for the first time, with a large field of entries from women drivers such as Maxine Nicholls, Natalie McGloin and Sarah Milner, with an eclectic array of cars from a Mini Cooper to a Jaguar XJS, it was another great race to draw the season to a close at the final event in the Silverstone and Historic Sports Car Club calendar.
Taking first place in the race was former Ginetta Junior champion Sarah Moore in the Ginetta G50 while in second place also in a Ginetta G50, was former Junior Saloon Car Champion and rising star in the G5 Ginetta Challenge Katie Milner. Taking the third place on the podium was Nathalie McGloin the first female spinal injured racing driver to hold an ARDS licence in the UK and is currently competing in the Porsche Club Championship.
While in the sealed handicap Katie Milner took first place, Gail Hill, former Jaguar Club XJS National Champion took second place while third went to Maxine Nicholls in the Toyota MR2.
Special honours were also given to Bridgette Smart who received the Vice Presidents Award, Maxine Nicholls for the Prettiest Car and Sarah Moore for Fastest Lap.
Meanwhile in the closed wheel races there were some fantastic cars on track including the TIGA’s, Mallocks, a beautiful Creation and the Porsche 917 replica owned by Graham Turner.
Taking first place in the Closed Wheel Allcomers A race on Saturday was Bruce Chambers in the Elva Courier while taking second place was Iain McBay in the Davrian Mk8 and completing the podium was Mark Gardiner in the Ford Falcon.
While the B race found Ian Bankhurst in the Mallock Mk21 take the win with Mark Smith in the BMW E30 M3 in second place and Vic Nutter in the Lola 296 in third place.
A drier but colder Saturday found Martin Short behind the wheel of the stunning and rapid Dallara LMP3, with James Cottingham in second place in the Dallara LMP900 with Jack Dex finishing third in the Creation CA07.
