Lewis Hamilton has won the Mexican Grand Prix, with his Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg taking second place. Which means in the Championship standings there is just 19 points between the two with Rosberg on 349 points and Hamilton on 330.
Max Verstappen was set to take 3rd place but a post race 5 minute penalty meant he dropped to 5th, with Sebastien Vettel taking 3rd. Vettel caused controversy however toward the end of the race tussling with both Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, which led to a radio rant that included swearing at the race director which Vettel subsequently apologised for.
*UPDATED* It has been announced that Vettel has lost his podium place after receiving a 10 second penalty for changing direction under braking, a defensive move against Ricciardo. Vettel is dropped into 5th place with Ricciardo now in 3rd and Verstappen in 4th.
The race wasn’t without other incidents with Pascal Wehrlein retiring in the 1st lap after crashing with Marcus Ericsson. There was also a bump between Kimi Räikkönen and Nico Hulkenberg who finished in 6th and 7th respectively.
